The Scoop:
I've misspent more than a few evenings in this little bar and music venue next door to the Brewster Chowder House. I enjoy it particularly in the fall, when the regulars take it back from the tourists. This is a rustic building with no frills. If you want to eat, there are a nice U-shaped bar and a dining room next door at the Chowder House.
Years ago, I saw an excellent band called The Preacher, the Judge, and Panama Red, but they've since split up. Last I heard, the Judge formed a band called Judgment Day.
It's the kind of place where someone can yell, "Play Ol' 55" and the singer can say, "Damn, I forget how it starts," and someone else (okay, me) can yell the lyrics up to him.
Bottle beer, no glass is the drink of choice here; also, quite a bit of Jack D is poured. I haven't been here recently enough to learn if trendy cocktails have made any inroads.
Pros:
Loud, boisterous, on busy nights.
Cons:
Loud, boisterous, on busy nights.
