The Scoop:
Now 40 years old, the scallop festival is held in late September canalside in Buzzard's Bay with the railroad bridge looming above the throng. All the attractions you'd expect, including some really good bands, with the culinary focus on the ribbed bivalve so delectable when lightly breaded and fried.
Pros:
Not fancy, but a lot of fun
Cons:
You New Yorkers: Don't be ordering anything called "skallops". They're "scollops". If you can't say it right, order the chicken.
